This private reference site is not a government office. It cannot confirm custody or release, post bond, arrange a visit, change a record, or retrieve an official booking file. Use the official office that holds the record for those requests.
Official Record Routing
The current Sheriff contact page is the primary operational source for Muskingum County custody and records routing. It gives the office address below, but the county directory contains an older Sheriff address. Call first and use the current agency page or records portal before making an in-person visit.

Official Sheriff contact page
For a historical booking record or photo, use the MCSO public-records portal or call Records before visiting. Identify the person, approximate date, agency, booking or subject number if known, and the exact record sought. The Jail line is the appropriate route for a present custody question. The Sheriff's sources do not publish a booking-photo-specific fee or a guaranteed response time.
- For county custody, booking history, or a photo shown on an official detail record, start with the MCSO inmate inquiry and then use Records if the result is missing or older.
- For Zanesville municipal custody or a ZPD report, use the Zanesville Police Department route. Its Records hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 332 South Street, Zanesville, OH 43701, phone (740) 455-0700.
- For a warrant question, use the relevant court, Sheriff's official contact route, or an attorney. The Sheriff's Most Wanted page explains why the public cards are not a complete warrant database.
- For a court outcome, contact the Clerk of Courts for Common Pleas records, then use County Court or Zanesville Municipal Court when the case venue requires it.
- For a person in Ohio state custody or supervision, use the ODRC Offender Search. It is separate from the county booking system.
- For federal or immigration custody, use the BOP inmate locator or the ICE Online Detainee Locator, which are separate and do not provide county booking-photo searches.
Ohio Revised Code ยง 149.43 provides the state public-records framework, subject to exemptions and redactions. A request can be narrow and purpose-neutral. An official office can explain whether it holds the requested record, whether an exemption applies, and any lawful copy cost.
